Course Description

Module 4: DENTAL IMPLANT SURGERY begins with a discussion of the difference between Sterility & Asepsis and General Surgical Considerations as it relates to surgery performed within the oral cavity.

This section leads into more specific general rules and requirements for implant placement, discussing the equipment and instrumentation required before commencing placement of any implant system.

We will focus on Soft Tissue Considerations of Attached Gingiva and Unattached Gingiva, Soft Tissue Exposure using the Full Periosteal flap, the Limited Flap and the less traumatic Extraction Site, Cookie Cutter, Slit, and Transmucosal techniques of Flapless Surgery.

The course discusses Bone, considerations of Maxillary and mandibular surgery, and finally Medication, Home Care, Side effects and Sequelae. The participant will be asked review questions, with answers to those questions.
